Protection Grade IP Of Reducer And Motor

Dec 18, 2020

The protection grade is IP ×× recommended by IEC. Different installation sites have different levels. The IP (Progress protection) protection grade system is drafted by IEC (International Electrical Communication). The electrical appliances are classified according to their dust and moisture characteristics. In the grade standard, the "××" is a two digit number. The first digit represents the protection level for solid and the second digit represents the protection level for liquid. There are 7 grades of solid protection grade, which are represented by 0-6, and 9 grades of liquid protection are represented by 0-8 respectively. The details are as follows:

The meaning of the first digit after IP

0. No protection, no special protection

1. It can prevent the solid foreign body with diameter greater than 50 mm from entering the shell, and prevent the large area of human body (such as hand) from accidentally touching the electrified or moving parts in the shell, but can not prevent conscious access to these parts.

2. It can prevent the solid foreign matters with diameter greater than 12mm from entering the shell, and prevent fingers from touching the electrified or moving parts in the shell.

3. It can prevent the solid foreign matters with diameter greater than 2.5mm from entering the shell, and prevent tools and metal with thickness (or diameter) greater than 2.5 from touching the live or moving parts in the shell.

4. It can prevent the solid foreign matters with the diameter greater than 1 mm from entering the shell, and prevent the tools and metal with the thickness (or diameter) greater than 1 mm from touching the electrified or moving parts in the shell.

5. It can prevent dust from entering into the shell to affect the normal operation of the product, and completely prevent touching the charged or moving parts in the shell.

6. Completely prevent dust from entering and touching live or moving parts in the shell.

The meaning of the second digit after IP

0. No protection, no special protection.

1. Anti dripping, vertical dripping water should not directly enter the interior of the product.

2. 15 ゜ anti dripping. The dripping water within the range of 15 degree angle with the plumb line shall not enter into the product directly.

3. Anti drenching, the drenching water within the range of 60 degree angle with the plumb line shall not enter into the product directly.

4. Splash proof, splash water in any direction shall have no harmful effect on the product.

5. Water spray proof, spray water in any direction shall have no harmful effect on the product.

6. There should be no harmful effect on the product by violent sea wave or strong water spray.

7. Anti immersion: the product is immersed in water under the specified time and pressure, and the water inflow shall have no harmful effect on the product.

8. Diving, the product is immersed in the water for a long time under the specified pressure, and the water inflow shall have no harmful effect on the product.

For example: IP68:

This 6 says that dust can't enter (absolutely dust), and this 8 says that it is waterproof. The motor of this level is completely sealed, and it can work under water.
